What Is The New Luxury?

How do you define luxury in a home? Is it having a theater room? Maybe it's having a dishwasher? Or, is it having walls coated in real gold? At some point in time, each of these have been a luxury for the home. Dishwashers are the standard now. Walls coated with gold sound ridiculous. The idea of luxury is constantly evolving. Recently, I attended an interior design talk that addressed what defines a luxurious home in 2024. You may be surprised to know what it is.

Luxury is now deeply personal. It means something different for each home. The people that live within the walls of that home are the ones that decide what it is. A luxurious home is a personalized home. It's one that functions the way its inhabitants need and want. Its beauty is not dictated by trends or intended to impress other people. It is decorated for the people that live there.

You get to define the luxury of your home. Personally, I could not care less about a theater room but I dream of a large closet. I want to surround myself with beautiful and meaningful art. For a lot of people, they only want art that looks nice in the space. My luxury is not yours but they are both luxurious. We are so fortunate to be able to decorate, build, renovate, and design homes that are uniquely ours.
